Healthy goodness

Enjoy a healthy meal loaded with nutrients including vitamin K, folate, vitamin C and the important mineral potassium by making this delicious smoothie:

1 banana

½ avocado

100ml almond milk

15ml Chia seeds

Blend together until smooth. Add argave or honey to sweeten if necessary.


Weight loss smoothie

According to dr Oz ( avocado can even help you to lose weight by eating half of an avocado every morning. This will increase your intake of monounsaturated fatty acids (good fats) and you will not feel bloated throughout the day. Try this smoothie for weight loss:

½ avocado

½ banana

30ml cacao powder

50ml plain coconut milk

Blend together until smooth.


Gain muscle and lose weight

This avocado smoothie recipe by Step to Health ( will help you to lose weight without being constantly hungry and build muscle when accompanied by exercise:

1 avocado

Handful of leafy, raw green vegetables

1 fruit (banana, pear, apple or pineapple)

200ml water or vegetable milk (rice, oat, spelt or almond)

Add chia seeds, prunes, pea protein, hemp protein, powdered maca and extra virgin coconut oil if preferred)

Blend together until smooth. Add argave or honey to sweeten if necessary.

Enjoy for breakfast, as a snack before dinner, an hour before exercising for energy or immediately after exercising to build muscle mass.


According to Fiona of Physical Nutrition avocados are high in fibre which feeds beneficial bacteria in our gut, keeps our digestive tract healthy and keeps us regular. The fat and nutrient content of avocados increases the  absorption of nutrients from other foods consumed at the same time. She says avocados contain antioxidants called lutein and zeaxanthen which are important nutrients for eye health and lower the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts.
